WEEKLY REFLECTION 

16/1/18 - 19/1/18  

                                              I completed the internship programme as it was the last week of our teaching practice. We had holiday on monday as it was Pongal and so I continued with my portion from tuesday. I was able to complete till 'New multiplication' and I completed three lesson plans this week. Iam thankful to my students as they co-operated well and were very active in class. I also conducted an achievement test based on ratio, construction of quadrilaterals, statistics and negative numbers.

                                         We also conducted our conscientization programme on Thursday and the topic selected was ' Problems of Adolescence and their Remedial Measures'. We conducted the class for students of IX E and it lasted for almost 40 minutes. On Friday, we also had a magic show that was conducted in association with the 'Nanma club'.

A magic show was conducted on 19th of January  for the students of standard 9 in association with Nanma club.  Our deputy HM Edith miss inaugurated the programme by 2pm and the show lasted for almost 2 hours.  It was an interesting show and they gave importance to the problems faced by teenagers and also gave remedial measures.  Suicidal tendency among teenagers, substance abuse,  social media usage were the important topics discussed. They also gave various solutions to eliminate exam fear and thereby increasing confidence among students. It was more of an awareness class than a magic show. The class very entertaining as well as informative for all of us. 

Conscientization programme - Problems of adolescence and their remedial measures.

REPORT  ON  CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME 

                         As a part of our B.Ed curriculum we conducted a conscientization programme for the students of standard 9 E of St. John's High School, Eravipuram. The topic selected for the programme was 'PROBLEMS OF ADOLESCENCE AND THEIR REMEDIAL MEASURES' and we conducted it on 18th of January 2018. The other teacher trainees who accompanied for the programme was Simi.C from Physical Science and Reshma Baldwin from English.
                             
                          We presented the topic by giving the students a brief idea on adolescence and the topic was introduced by Simi. After that we divided the students into 4 groups and they were made to discuss among themselves the problems faced by each of them during the period of adolescence. Then representatives from each group discussed their views and shared their experiences in an interesting way.

                              Then we started our class on problems faced during adolescents. I gave them a detailed explanation on the physical, emotional and behavioural changes that takes place during adolescence and also gave stress on the impact of peer pressure and its consequences and remedial measure of each problem was also discussed. A video related to it was shown after these three points were discussed. 

                          Next Reshma discussed about substance abuse, educational changes, health problems and addiction of cyber space.Substance abuse and addiction of cyber space are two major points that were to be discussed with great concern according to the present scenario. Psychological changes, social changes, aggression and violence were then discussed by Simi and relevant videos were shown to the students.

    

    

                            Then we conducted an interactive session for 5 minutes where we had a friendly talk with them and they shared their views and experiences. Some of the students also suggested other remedial measures as well as steps  to reduce such problems. Towards the end of the programme, I gave an overall summary of the topic and students were given activity cards to write their feedback of the class. The students actively participated as well as responded well during the whole class and we were satisfied with our class. 

Annual day practice (9E students )

We helped the students of 9 E in their dance performance for their annual day celebration. The programme is to be conducted on 30th of January and students are very excited about it.

WEEKLY REFLECTION

                                                  I completed the unit 'Statistics' and I was able to start a new unit 'Negative Numbers'. I completed 5 lesson plans this week and used Concept Attainment Model to start the new unit 'Negative Numbers'. The students were very co-operative and responded well in class.

                                                    This week we had our 1st yr students from our college for school visit and we had a good time together. We also had a parents teachers meeting in our school on Thursday.

WEEKLY REFLECTION

                                   I completed the seventh week of our teaching practice and this week I started with the unit 'Statistics'. I completed three lesson plans and the students were really interested in the class as the topic was very simple.  

                                   This week we had trainees from Pallimukku TTC and we had a good time together. On friday we had first friday mass. We had half day on Saturday and made my students to answer the tool for my project purpose.

WEEKLY REFLECTION 

 18/12/17 - 22/12/17  

                                  I completed the sixth week of our teaching practice and this week the examinations got over. On Friday, we celebrated Christmas and Fr. Milton blessed the cake. Sweets and cakes were distributed to the students. The students also decorated the christmas tree and the crib very beautifully.

                                   During aftrenoon, we went to the 'Abhaya Charitable Society' along with the other teachers and distributed cake and wine to them. We all had a good conversation and it was a memorable day for all of us.
